Sept 18: 7pm Religious Texts and Society

The next meeting of the Religions Texts and Society group will be held on Thursday, September 18th, at 7 pm. Ken Christiansen will be presenting Chinese religion in the Axial Age, from Karen Armstrong’s book, The Great Transformation. This presentation will conclude our 8 month long study of Armstrong’s take on the Axial Age, a pivotal time in the formation of the World’s primary religions.

At this next meeting, we will also select the next book for study. Several books have been suggested thus far, and you can find links to these suggested books by referring to the Religious Texts and Society section of the BBUUC website. So far, there are several books on mysticism, and a book (co-authored by a UU) about changes in emphasis in the nature of Jesus’ message and in the artistic representation of Jesus over time. Should you wish to suggest other books, please send a note to pr_communications@bbuuc.org to have your suggestion added to the list.
If you have any questions, please contact Dale Crawford or Scott Cromar.
