With Jennifer Bacmeister as
Join BBUUC in our Sixth Annual Festivus Celebration – with a virtual twist! Though we normally celebrate Festivus as a multi-generational participatory service full of fun and happiness, Jennifer will lead us in an alternative approach in these days of social distancing. We will still enjoy the Recitation of Festivus Miracles, aired grievances, and traditional Feats of Strength! Jennifer will bring out our very own BBUUC Festivus pole for all to admire. Though the traditional Festivus meal of meatloaf on a bed of lettuce during coffee hour is off the table this year (no pun intended), all are welcomed to continue the custom at home during our fellowship hour or for lunch.
For those unfamiliar with Festivus, the celebration was spawned from an episode of Seinfeld, which was inspired by what some may consider shenanigans that took place in one of the writer’s childhood homes. The concept of a holiday, “a Festivus for the rest of us”, was meant to be a jovial, and very tongue-in-cheek response to the overt consumerism of Christmas. Festivus is now observed around the world and is not necessarily just a Christmas-time holiday. BBUUC has made the Festivus celebration a tradition that serves as a reminder of what the holidays are really about, and reminds us to look past the trappings and find the joy.

During this time of social distancing, when in-person worship has been suspended, BBUUC will continue our weekly worship in video format that you can find on YouTube each Sunday morning at the “BBUUC Video” channel. Simply subscribe to the channel on YouTube, and watch our weekly worship services, modified for video viewing until we can resume gathering together for worship in our church sanctuary. The worship videos will remain on the site for viewing at your convenience. New services are posted at 6 A.M. on Sunday mornings.
We invite you to submit your Joys and Concerns via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by Tuesday at noon of each week for inclusion in the upcoming Sunday’s worship service. Please note “J&C” in the subject line. For your privacy, we will share our Joys and Concerns using first names and last initials only.
